Why "Catholic Guy"? Simple - my faith is my life and my faith is Roman Catholic.
I'm a retired Navy Chief Petty Officer; I was a proud member of the now defunct Naval Security Group and for 20 years served as a Cryptologic Technician (Communications). I served on both sides of the globe beginning my service at the Headquarters, Supreme Allied Commander Atlantic (SACLANT) on the staff of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Then followed a year in Vietnam on the staff of the Commander, Naval Forces Vietnam in Saigon and later the staff of Commander, Task Force 115 in Cam Rahn Bay. From Vietnam I moved to Washington, D.C. (where I witnessed the sad debacle of Watergate unfold) for 3 years at the Naval Intelligence Processing Systems Support Activity. My next assignment was to Spain where I served 4 years at the Naval Security Group Department of the Naval Base at Rota and logged 500 hours as a communicator flying with VQ-2 in EP3E reconnaissance aircraft. From Spain it was back to the U.S. for a stint at the Naval Security Group Activity Northwest (in Southeast Virginia on the VA/NC border). After several years of Southern Comfort I transferred to the Naval Security Group Activity, Adak, Alaska (an island in the Aleutian chain). My final tour of duty was with the Staff of the Commander, U.S. Third Fleet embarked in USS Coronado (AGF-11).
